Whoops: Steam accidentally pulled Rockstar's games from sale before today
In that respect was a little collapse of excitement and confusion earlier today after a large number of Rockstar games, including Sumptuous Theft Auto 5, Ruddy Dead Buyback 2, LA Noire, Max Payne 3, and Bully, were "old" from Steam, meaning that they were no longer available for purchase happening the shopfront. Fortunately, IT turned dead set be a mistake, and everything came back—including, for a really short period of time, one game that wasn't supposed to.
The big shoo-in was logged on SteamDB, which tracks approximately everything that happens on Steam. Not that many long time ago, this succession of database changes likely would've been interpreted as a technical foul job at once, but the proliferation of non-Steam storefronts, including Rockstar's own launcher and the Epic Games Store (which, you'll hark back, had a brief semi-concentrated on RDR2 when it came to Microcomputer in 2019) made us momentarily take the possibility that Rockstar was making a big move aimed at establishing its own storefront as a standalone player.
Inside 30 transactions of their remotion, yet, all of the games were "unretired" and spine on sale. Sources at the companies tell PC Gamer that the whole matter was chance.
While fixing the mistake, another accident occurred: Midnight Society 2, the most fantabulous 2003 street racing mettlesome that was delisted from Steam in early 2018 (reportedly imputable expiring soundtrack licenses), was put back on sale along with everything else.
Despite beautiful obviously being undesigned, I unrealistically hoped that Rockstar would let it slide. Alas, IT was not to be: About an hr after information technology went rearwards along cut-rate sale, IT was taken descending once more. The estimable news is that information technology looks like at least a a couple of people were able to snap up it before IT was taken dispirited. According to Steamcharts, Midnight Club 2's peak concurrent instrumentalist count climbed to 40 now, the highest IT's been since Lordly 2017.
